Welcome to VCTM!

VCTM seeks to honor the tremendous work of our nascent and established K-12 educators of mathematics through the following annual awards:

VCTM Rookie of the Year

Do you have a new colleague in your school who is doing an amazing job with their students and think they should be recognized?  Here's your chance to give them their due for their hard work and enthusiasm! There will be up to three recipients; one in each of the following categories- Elementary (K-5), Middle (6-8), and High School (9-12).

To qualify, the nominees must:

• be in the first three calendar years of their teaching (either full or part time), and 
• be nominated by a VCTM member.  

The nomination form has room  for your nomination letter. 

Nominations are currently: OPEN until January 15, 2025.  Awardees will be recognized at the VCTM Annual Conference happening March 21, 2025 at Saint Michael's College.

VCTM Excellence in Teaching Mathematics

VCTM is excited to again offer a new award aimed at recognizing excellent mathematics teaching and learning. Do you have a colleague in your school who is doing an amazing job teaching mathematics with their students? For 2025, there will be up to three recipients; one in each of the following categories- Elementary (K-5), Middle (6-8), and High School (9-12). 

To qualify, the nominees must:

• Be a member of VCTM
• Must have taught mathematics for at least 3 years in Vermont, and is currently teaching mathematics in Vermont
• Have a strong content foundation in mathematics appropriate for their teaching level
• Show evidence of growth in the teaching of mathematics
• Demonstrate equitable and inclusive teaching practices
• Show evidence of professional involvement in VCTM and/or NCTM, and
• Has not received an "VCTM: Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics" award in the past 5 years
