Do you have a math colleague in your school who is doing an amazing job with their students and think they should be recognized? The Vermont Council of Teachers of Mathematics (VCTM) will be awarding two awards for Vermont Math teachers:
VCTM Rookie of the Year Award
VCTM Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics Award
There will be up to three recipients for each award; one in each of the following categories:
Elementary (K-5)
Middle (6-8)
High School (9-12)
Awardees will be recognized at the VCTM Annual Conference happening Monday, October 5, 2026 at Vermont State University (VTSU) Randolph.
To qualify for the VCTM Rookie of the Year, the nominees must be:
- A new Vermont math teacher in their first five calendar years of their teaching (either full or part time).
- To qualify for the VCTM Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics, the nominees must be a current Vermont math teacher with at least five years teaching experience (at least three years teaching in Vermont).
- Have a strong content foundation in mathematics appropriate for their teaching level.
- Show evidence of growth in the teaching of mathematics.
- Demonstrate equitable and inclusive teaching practices.
- Show evidence of professional involvement in VCTM and/or NCTM.
- Has not received an "VCTM: Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics" award in the past 5 years.
Nominations are due Friday, September 25, 2026.
Self nominations will be accepted.
